About Qianfo Temple, Hongdong
Its three-hall arrangement gives the visit a simple structure: the middle hall honours the thousand-armed, thousand-eyed Guanyin, while the rear hall contains Shakyamuni with rows of smaller Buddha images. A bronze Shakyamuni image is recorded in the eastern rear hall. This local temple is a different place from Xiaoxitian, also called Qianfo'an, in Xi County.
What to look for
- The Guanyin image in the middle hall and the smaller Buddha images around Shakyamuni in the rear hall.
- The bronze Shakyamuni image in the eastern rear hall, where the temple permits viewing.
