About Beijing Auto Museum
Beijing Auto Museum (北京汽车博物馆) is an automobile museum in Fengtai District, on the west section of the South Fourth Ring Road. Its exhibitions connect vehicle design and engineering with the social history of motoring in China and abroad.
The museum opened in 2011 and presents the development of automobiles across countries and manufacturers. Chinese automotive history is an important strand, but the collection is not a showroom for one brand. Compare vehicles from different periods and look for the relationship between changing technology, transport needs and everyday life.
Interactive displays can make the subject approachable for a mixed-age group, while the historic vehicles give enthusiasts a more focused route. Decide whether you want a broad introduction or time with particular models before filling the day with other museums. This Fengtai institution is distinct from Beijing Classic Car Museum in Huairou; the English names are similar enough to make the district worth checking.
