About Dazhai Village
During the 1950s, villagers under Chen Yonggui built retaining structures and reclaimed hillside fields. The settlement became a national agricultural model in the 1960s, making its landscape part of the history of rural collectivisation. The Dazhai Exhibition Hall provides a place to approach that period through the village's own historical narrative.
Cave dwellings built during the collective period sit within a village that later diversified into manufacturing and tourism. Hutou Mountain, developed as a forest park, gives an elevated view of the settlement and its surrounding terrain. Together, the housing, terracing and later tree planting show successive phases of change.
