About First Family of Jiangnan

The clan shared residence and meals over more than three centuries. Its 168 Zheng Family Rules turned expectations about education, conduct and household duties into detailed regulations, providing the central story behind the site.

Nine ceremonial archways form a sequence at the approach to the complex. Within the Zheng ancestral hall, three square pools are arranged like the character 品, a layout interpreted as a reminder of personal character. The buildings give a physical setting to the family’s history beside Bailin stream.
