Yingxi Fenglin

Yingxi Fenglin is a karst peak-forest corridor between Huanghua and Jiulong towns, Yingde, Qingyuan, Guangdong, holding more than 1,000 linearly arranged limestone peaks with rivers and streams winding among them. The corridor stretches more than 20 li, and the city government describes it as the longest peak-forest touring corridor with the most scenic spots yet found in the province.

About Yingxi Peak Forest

Within the corridor, Dongtian Xianjing (Fairyland Grotto) Eco-tourism Resort, a national AAAA scenic area 2 km west of Jiulong town centre, is the corridor's main scenic spot, known as 'South China's No. 1 sinkhole' and built around karst landforms and steep ravines. Jiulong Fenglin Xiaozhen, another national AAAA scenic area, sits in the corridor's core section near Jiulong town; it is a China Top-100 Beautiful Village example, a Guangdong AAA agricultural park and a Guangdong environmental-education base, combining an agricultural park with rural lodging, flower viewing and science education.

On the corridor's most scenic stretch, in Yankou village, Huanghua town, the Yingxi Fenglin·Jiuchongtian boardwalk runs more than 1,500 metres through a cave with a natural stream flowing through it, past rock and stalactite formations named as a stone jellyfish, a queen's head, a snow-lotus waterfall, a nine-fingered divine turtle and eighteen arhats. Nearby, the Laohu Valley cave rafting course follows a winding river 5.5 kilometres long with 68 drops, the highest 38 metres, for a total elevation change of up to 388 metres, passing through a cave more than 1,000 metres long lined with stalactites. Also within Huanghua town, on Luo Shan about 33 metres high, stands Pengjia Ci, also called the Little Potala Palace: a mid-Qing defensive fortress and ancestral shrine of the local Peng clan, preserving intact wall carvings, old window lattices and a plaque bestowed during the Qing Xianfeng era, listed as a provincial cultural-relic protection unit in 2019.
