About Chashan Bamboo Sea
The park holds 30,000 mu of tea garden and 50,000 mu of bamboo, and it is the growing of the two together that the municipal government's description singles out. Forest cover is given as 97 per cent and negative-oxygen-ion content as more than 20,000 per cubic centimetre. Rare plants distributed through the park include tree fern, ginkgo, yew and metasequoia. The wildlife recorded runs to 39 kinds of bird, 16 of mammal and 258 of insect, with large Indian civet, small Indian civet and Asian black bear among the nationally protected animals.
The park lies high and in a humid middle-subtropical climate, so its weather is mild, with an annual mean temperature of about 14 degrees. Chashan Zhuhai was also a filming location for House of Flying Daggers, and the municipal page records that many of the settings used in the film are still kept there.
