Tiaodeng Hotpot (跳磴火锅) is Chongqing hotpot as it is served in Tiaodeng (跳磴镇), a town in Dadukou District (大渡口区) of Chongqing (重庆). Here it is eaten in a man-made cave looking out over the Yangtze at Shipan village (石盘村), and Fengwoba village (蜂窝坝村) has made its Fengwo Stacked Rocks hotpot (蜂窝叠石火锅) a local speciality.

Where it comes from

Dadukou's hotpot trade includes a shop that has been in business for 26 years and themed restaurants that build the district's industrial past into their dining rooms. In a 2025 feature, Dadukou's official news site held up the cave hotpot of Changjiang Shiju (长江石居) at Shipan village as a model of Chongqing hotpot becoming more distinctive and upmarket, combining a man-made cave, natural ingredients and attentive service.

How it is eaten

Changjiang Shiju is a guesthouse built around Shipan village's stone-axe (石斧) emblem, in the style of Old Stone Age cave dwellings. Its second floor is a cave-style hotpot hall where diners sit round the pot looking out over the Yangtze. The cave is artificial; the kitchen uses seasonal vegetables picked each day, and meat is slaughtered to order and prepared by hand.

Fengwoba village, also in Tiaodeng, planned a Fengwo Stacked Rocks (蜂窝叠石) scenic area on its karst landscape together with a hotpot of the same name: villagers' chickens were to be bought up and raised in fenced woodland, and the hotpot base sold as well. By 2023 the village, which raises free-range poultry, had made the Fengwo Stacked Rocks hotpot and firewood-cooked chicken (柴火鸡) into local specialities.

On Jin'ao Mountain (金鳌山) in Jin'ao village (金鳌村), the Duoduo Courtyard (多多小院) guesthouse faces the Yangtze and lists hotpot among its main offerings, along with afternoon tea.
