About Guifeng Old Village
The surviving houses include buildings from the late Ming and early Qing periods. Their layered arrangement follows the hillside, while bridges and narrow lanes connect the different levels; the Shiyin Three Bridges mark the village entrance.
With little flat ground available, residents traditionally spread and hang harvested crops around their homes, on racks and across roof spaces. Known as shaiqiu, this autumn drying practice links the village’s architectural setting to its farming life, filling baskets and drying frames with the colours of the harvest when the season and weather allow.
What to look for
- The stepped Ming–Qing houses, winding lanes and stream running through the village.
- Shiyin Three Bridges at the village entrance.
- Seasonal harvest-drying racks and baskets associated with the shaiqiu tradition.
