About Shizhu Mountain

The temple group includes Xianjun Tower, Guanyin Hall and Wenchang Pavilion. Its worship of the Nine Immortals of the He family is associated with qimeng, a custom of seeking guidance through dreams. Rock formations, caves and inscriptions extend the cultural landscape beyond the halls. Below the mountain lies Dongzhang Reservoir, whose wooded island is known as Liyu Mountain.

What to look for

  • The cliffside temple group around Xianjun Tower.
  • Dongzhang Reservoir and the island of Liyu Mountain below the slope.
  • Unusual rock forms and inscriptions among the mountain’s religious buildings.
