About Zhaixia Grand Canyon
Water erosion, rock collapse and tectonic movement have all helped shape the gorges. Tall rock walls rise above bamboo and trees, with cavities and overhangs breaking up the cliff surfaces. At Tianqiongyan, hollows nest within one another in the rock; the near-vertical face called Tongtianbei gives a different impression of the scale and steepness of the landscape. Streams thread the shaded valley floor below.
