About Lingguang Temple
Two contrasting trees at the entrance, one living and one dead, are a distinctive local landmark. Inside the Mahavira Hall, the spiral wooden ceiling structure is often called the pineapple caisson because of its form. These physical features provide a rewarding close view; stories about miraculous ventilation or roofs never collecting leaves should be understood as temple folklore rather than architectural facts.
What to look for
- The entrance is marked by the contrasting living and dead trees known locally as the life-and-death pair.
- The Mahavira Hall contains a spiral wooden caisson with a pineapple-like form.
