About Beidi Mountain
The area lies at the southern foot of the Dayaoshan National Nature Reserve, and the autonomous region's Radio and Television Administration gives its planned extent as 22.4 square kilometres with forest cover above 95 per cent. Pingnan county names the Beidi peaks, at about 1,300 metres, and the Langchong stone forest among its features, along with a sea of rhododendron. The county presents the place as resting on its landscape setting and on local folk culture, and singles out Beidi worship and the county's zhuangyuan tradition, the tradition of the top candidate in the imperial examinations, as the cultural threads running through it.
The two institutional descriptions differ in their wording of the local six-part formula for the mountain's qualities; that phrase is left aside here. What both agree on is the administrative picture: Beidishan is a national AAAA-grade tourist scenic area, and the autonomous region's culture and tourism department still carried it at that grade in its register of A-grade scenic areas compiled to the end of 2021.
