About Solitary Beauty Peak and Princes' City

The Guangxi Department of Culture and Tourism's own account places the palace at 1 Wangcheng Road, Xiufeng District, below Duxiu Peak, covering 21.4 hectares, and describes it as the earliest built and most completely surviving princely palace of the Ming period and as the place where the line 'Guilin's landscape is the finest under heaven' was found; the palace and a separate tomb complex at Yao Shan are, the department writes, what remains of the Jingjiang princedom set up under the Ming dynasty's enfeoffment policy on China's southern frontier. On 29 December 2022 the National Cultural Heritage Administration placed the palace and tombs on its fourth batch of National Archaeological Site Parks.

From 2013 the department recorded Guilin carrying out repair work at the palace on the Chengyun Hall, its ritual hall, the Yangzhi Pavilion, the city wall and 18 historic buildings, together with anti-weathering protection and surface repair on the stone wall of the Duanli Gate and conservation maintenance of the Duxiu Peak stone carvings; it also recorded a Jingjiang Princes' Palace Museum and a Guangxi Examination Hall imperial-examination display hall being built, and the Wangfu East and West Lanes historic quarter being rebuilt. The regional broadcasting authority's own listing adds that Ming-period city walls still stand around the site, that Duxiu Peak rises from level ground within the walled enclosure, and that the palace is also a campus of Guangxi Normal University, housing its School of History, Culture and Tourism.
