A Gaotian town government item, carried on the Guangxi channel of People's Daily Online, records that Fenglou village, founded in the Ming dynasty more than 400 years ago, lies within the Shilihualang scenic area north of Gaotian town and south of the Yangshuo county seat, with eight natural hamlets, 780 households and 3,955 people; it records that villagers across the village have turned to tourism, relying on well-known sights including the Big Banyan Tree, Moon Hill, the Yulong River and Julong Pond.
