About Baiyangyu Great Wall
The scenic area's own account attributes the marble section to the Ming general Qi Jiguang. The notable material is the foundation stone: large red-marble blocks carry the wall along the ridge, giving this stretch a different appearance from Great Wall sections built principally on ordinary grey stone.
Below the fortifications, the Baiyang River runs south through the village. Yannian Bridge, a suspension bridge built in 1998, connects the village and the eastern hillside approach. This relationship between river, settlement and ridge-top wall is central to the landscape; views from the valley also make the wall's position easy to understand.
