About Yishui Lake
Work on the reservoir began in June 1958, and its main works entered operation in June 1960. The name Yishui Lake was adopted in 2007. Its broad water surface and steep surrounding hills are therefore a landscape shaped by a twentieth-century water project.
Laozi Peak is the principal named mountain attraction on the lake. A roughly 3.1-kilometre walkway follows the waterside slopes on upper and lower levels, providing changing views across the reservoir and its rock formations. The published visitor description reaches the peak by boat, so a lakeside stop and an excursion onto Laozi Peak are different ways to experience the area.
