About Fuxi Grand Canyon
The gorge runs for five kilometres and holds a group of natural waterfalls. Walkways are carried beneath overhanging cliff corridors, so much of the route is under the rock rather than on open slopes, and the view changes as the path turns through the narrow sections. The Zhengzhou tourism authority presents the red rock as material left by an ancient ocean more than a billion years ago.
The scenic area takes its name and its interpretation from the legendary ancestors Fuxi and Nüwa, and its displays are built around dragon symbolism and the Book of Changes rather than around any documented historical site. It was developed as a scenic area in two stages in 2013 and 2014.
