About Hamin Archaeological Site
The settlement dates to approximately 5,500–5,000 years ago. Excavated house foundations form rows or groups with similar orientations, and their entrances generally face southeast. Each dwelling combined a sunken living space with a projecting entrance passage and a hearth toward the southern part of the room.
The remains reveal practical building methods as well as a coherent village layout. Floors and walls were treated with heat, leaving reddish-brown surfaces that archaeologists associate with moisture protection. Two enclosing ditches surrounded the settlement, adding a boundary beyond the individual homes.
