About Xilamuren Grassland
Broad grassland, summer flowers and grazing herds characterize Xilamuren's pastoral landscape. Sheep, horses and cattle, together with the herders' yurts, give the open country a lived-in character. The river provides a distinct feature within the wide grassland views.
Puhui Temple was built in 1769 as a summer residence for the sixth reincarnate lama of Hohhot's Xilitu Zhao. Its decorated halls stand beside the river, which bends behind the temple. The older name Zhaohe, used for this grassland destination, reflects the presence of the riverside Buddhist monastery.
