About Jinxi Ancient Town

One- and two-storey houses line the waterways, with white walls, dark roofs, water doors and landings. Tianshui Bridge spans Youche Gang in a single arch; its history includes Ming construction and Qing rebuilding. At the southern edge of town, Lianchi Chan Temple faces the setting of Wubao Lake.

Brick-and-tile making is another part of Jinxi's history. The Ancient Brick and Tile Museum occupies a Qing-period Ding family house on Shangtang Old Street, bringing architectural ceramics into the setting of the old commercial streets where the town's building materials can also be seen in use.

What to look for

  • Tianshui Bridge and the canal-side houses with water doors and landings.
