About Qingming Bridge Historic District
Qingming Bridge spans the canal at its junction with Bodu Gang. Its single granite arch anchors a townscape of Nanchang Street and Nanxiatang, where white walls, dark roofs and steps down to the water show the close relationship between houses and the canal.
The area's commercial past included rice trading, silk factories, wharves and brick kilns. Beside Bodu Gang, Dayao Road retains the setting of the old kiln industry and the Wuxi Kiln Site Museum, adding the history of building materials to the better-known riverside streets.
