About Changbai Mountain North Slope
Tianchi occupies a caldera at the mountain's summit, enclosed by 16 peaks. This basin is a product of past volcanic eruptions, giving the lake a geological setting quite different from the wooded watercourses elsewhere in the scenic area.
The northern area's other landmarks include Changbai Waterfall and the Julong hot-spring group, together with Small Tianchi and Lüyuan Pool. The Underground Forest, also called the Valley Floor Forest, adds a forest landscape to this group of lake, spring and waterfall sites.
