About Haiwang Nine Islands

The group includes Dawangjia, Xiaowangjia and Shoulong islands, together with smaller islands and numerous offshore reefs. Several island names refer to animal-like shapes, including turtle, frog, elephant and paired lions.

Sea erosion gives the coast much of its character. Irregular rock outcrops, reefs and coastal caves create a varied shoreline, with different profiles visible across the water. The islands form a dispersed maritime landscape, whose small rocky features are as characteristic as the larger landmasses.

What to look for

  • Sea-eroded rock formations and coastal caves
  • Views across the islands and offshore reefs
  • The larger Dawangjia and Xiaowangjia islands
