About Ru River Waterfall
The Ru River Waterfall lies at Yangping Village in Chengyang, Pengyang County, where the river drops through a break in its course. It adds a concentrated water feature to the valley landscape of southern Ningxia. The attraction is best understood as part of the Ru River system, rather than as an isolated mountain cascade.
A field report published by Ningxia’s water authority identifies the waterfall at Yangping and discusses it alongside river management upstream. Pengyang’s more recent tourism account places the waterfall within a visitor corridor connected with Jinjiping and Qiaojiaqu. The county-wide improvements mentioned in that account are spread across several sites, so their total numbers should not be presented as facilities all located at the waterfall itself.
Use the designated viewing area to see how the channel approaches the drop and continues below it. Water volume, colour and spray change with conditions, making a published photograph an example rather than a guaranteed scene. A valley stop can be combined with another named attraction, but check the road distances and current access before treating a regional tourism corridor as a continuous walk.
What to look for
- Observe the waterfall within the Ru River’s valley course.
- Compare the upstream channel with the water below the drop.
