About Tachuan Village
Trees grow beside fields, streams, village entrances and bridges, rather than forming one enclosed ornamental garden. Chinese tallow is especially prominent, with foliage moving through yellow and red as the season advances; camphor, ginkgo and other trees add variety to the landscape.
White walls, tiled roofs and stepped horse-head gables sit among the trees on the hillside, while a stream passes through the village. The close relationship between houses, farmland and vegetation gives Tachuan its visual interest beyond any single viewpoint. Autumn colour is seasonal, so the scene varies through the year.
What to look for
- Chinese tallow trees among the fields and village houses, with seasonal autumn foliage.
- Huizhou houses and their stepped horse-head gables against the wooded hillsides.
- The village stream and trees along its banks and nearby field margins.
