About Badachu Park
Badachu Park is a Buddhist temple landscape on the southern side of Beijing's Western Hills. Its name refers to eight temple sites distributed among Cuiwei, Pingpo and Lushi hills. The setting combines religious buildings with woodland and rising ground, so it offers a different experience from a flat urban park or a single enclosed temple.
The attraction is the relationship between the buildings and the hills. Temple approaches, changes in elevation and views through vegetation give the visit its structure. Rather than rushing to count eight stops, look at how each accessible courtyard or path occupies its particular slope and how the surrounding hills frame the scene.
A short visit can concentrate on the lower sections; a longer walk can follow the signed uphill paths according to your energy and the day's conditions. Treat functioning worship areas with consideration. Trees and seasonal plants are part of the landscape, but flowering dates vary and should not be treated as a guaranteed feature of a particular booking.
What to look for
- Temple sites arranged across three hills of the Western Hills landscape.
- Courtyard approaches and wooded paths linking religious and natural scenery.
- Changes in viewpoint as the public paths rise above the lower park.
