About Shenlong Gorge

Shenlong Gorge lies west of Jinfo Mountain in Nanchuan, within the Dalou mountain landscape.

The gorge offers a valley-level experience distinct from Jinfo Mountain's higher routes. Chongqing's tourism description identifies canyon scenery, caves and rafting among its features. These activities have different seasonal and operating conditions; the natural gorge remains the geographical focus, while a rafting excursion requires its own confirmed booking.

The lower gorge is a useful contrast with the elevated terrain around Jinfo Mountain. Observe the relationship between water and rock at close range instead of expecting the same broad summit panorama. A rafting programme adds a separate activity layer. A sightseeing ticket or a walk through the valley should not be assumed to include that seasonal water-based experience.

What to look for

  • The enclosed gorge landscape.
  • Rock formations and the cave setting.
  • The watercourse used by seasonal rafting activities.

Location & getting there

Getting to Shenlong Gorge

Search for 南川神龙峡 and select the intended activity entrance. Check whether rafting is operating and suitable for the group; do not assume that Jinfo Mountain admission includes this separate gorge.
