About Volcanic Island Ecological Scenic Area
The coast forms part of a wider volcanic landscape that also extends into neighbouring Longhai. Eruptive remains, weathering and erosion account for its geological interest; the wider geopark includes mainland and offshore components with distinct locations.
Within the developed resort, Rainbow Mountain’s coloured stairs and the pink Monument Valley complex add a deliberately theatrical layer to the coast. These structures and the geoscience museum belong to the modern visitor development, while the black shoreline rocks are the natural feature.
What to look for
- The dark volcanic rocks along the shoreline and their relationship to the sea.
- The colourful stairs of Rainbow Mountain and the pink Monument Valley architecture, both constructed photography attractions.
