About Maluan Bay
The shelterbelt is part of the bay's landscape as well as its protection from wind and moving sand. Casuarina planting, shoreline cleanup and the removal of disorderly aquaculture facilities formed part of the restoration programme documented here and in neighbouring Jinluan Bay in 2021. Maluan's beach-and-woodland setting gives the coast a broad horizontal pattern of sand, green trees and open water.
