About Songkou Ancient Town
Produce from Xianyou, Minqing, Putian and Youxi once passed through Songkou, giving the town a commercial role beyond its own valley. Steps from the old landing lead into streets lined with houses and shops. Repairs and new uses within old buildings have helped sustain the historic settlement.
Hexing Road, the crane-shaped lane leading toward Longkou ancestral house, is one of its most distinctive spaces. Its long bends are enclosed by earthen walls.
