About Wudianshi Historic District
Red brick, white stone and upturned swallowtail roof ridges give its traditional houses a recognisable profile. Zhuang Ancestral Hall, Cai Ancestral Hall and Shigu Temple mark the communal life of the old streets. Cai Ancestral Hall was rebuilt in 1989 and has received descendants returning from Taiwan.
The district was retained during redevelopment of the Qingyang-Meiling area. Its lanes contain older houses, overseas-influenced buildings and newer additions. The combination reflects both conservation and the histories of local families who migrated to Taiwan and Southeast Asia and maintained links with their ancestral home.
