About Yuanyang Stream Yiyang Scenic Area
Yuanyang Stream is the forested gorge counterpart to Baishuiyang's broad shallow riverbed in Pingnan County. The Yiyang visitor area offers a different kind of outing, centred on valley scenery and walking rather than spending the visit in a wide water-play area.
The surrounding mountains and woodland form a habitat associated with wintering mandarin ducks, which give the stream its name. Wildlife sightings depend on season, conditions and patience; they are not a scheduled attraction. The wider protected landscape contains several named visitor areas, so the words Baishuiyang and Yuanyang Stream should not be treated as interchangeable entrances. Here the appeal is the change from enclosed forest and ravine walls to open views along the water. A combined visit needs time for both the transfer and the different walking routes.
What to look for
- Wooded ravine and stream scenery
- Seasonal mandarin-duck habitat
- A separate walking excursion from Baishuiyang
