About Nanguo Temple
Ancient trees spread through its courts, while the Beiliu Spring and poetry inscriptions connect the place with Du Fu’s stay in Qinzhou. The compound is arranged in western, central and eastern courtyards, so its interest is spread across several modest spaces rather than a single monumental hall. The hillside setting and views back toward the city make the approach part of the experience.
What to look for
- The old trees around the principal temple courtyard.
- Beiliu Spring and the Ermiaoxuan poetry-inscription corridor in the eastern court.
The surrounding area
A southeastern chapter of Buddhist sculpture, historic streets and distinctive chilli-dressed snacks.
