About Dongxichong Coast
Dongchong, the eastern end, sits at the tip of the peninsula under the Nan'ao subdistrict office and has substantial mangrove wetland behind its shoreline as well as open coast. Local tourism there is built around three linked routes that the district describes together: a 700-metre beach line, a 3.3-kilometre riverside waterfront walk, and the six-kilometre traverse to Xichong. Recent upgrading work has added viewing platforms, and a mangrove wetland park adjoins the beach.
At the western end, Xichong is grouped by the city's tourism authority with the astronomical observatory above the bay, and the settlement there has been developed as a dark-sky community where visitors climb to the observatory to look at the night sky. The traverse between the two ends is a coastal route rather than a beach walk, so the two bays and the shore between them should be planned as distinct parts of a visit.
