About Dalong Lake
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism's own route guide counts it among the nation's ten karst-rock reservoirs and among Guangxi's three great landscape tourism cards, comparing its scenery to Guilin's Li River and Vietnam's Ha Long Bay; it is popularly styled "China's Ha Long Bay", a nickname the Shanglin county government's own profile also uses.
What to look for
- The hills that ring the lake, their rock peaks standing shoulder to shoulder, the green hills reflected in the water.
- The reservoir itself, one of the nation's ten karst-rock reservoirs by the tourism ministry's own count.
- The fourteen natural islets in the lake, recorded by the county tourism bureau.
- Dalong Dong, the cave alongside the lake shore, with its twelve viewing halls, its stalactite formations and the three natural skylights in its roof.
