About Reed Flute Cave
Stalactites, stalagmites and other mineral formations fill the chambers, with artificial lighting used to distinguish their shapes. Individual formations have descriptive names, including Crystal Palace, Fish Tail Peak and Dragon Pagoda, which connect what visitors see with local interpretation and legend.
Follow the formations through the cave rather than expecting one continuous open view. The shapes hanging from the ceiling and rising from the floor show different patterns of mineral deposition, while lighting changes their apparent colour and depth. Stay on the authorised route and follow the cave’s current group and guiding arrangements.
What to look for
- Stalactites and stalagmites create contrasting hanging and rising formations.
- Named scenes such as Crystal Palace and Fish Tail Peak help organise the illuminated chambers.
