About Aranya Cultural and Coastal Area

The Qinhuangdao community includes the seaside library, chapel, theatres and art spaces that shape its cultural identity. These buildings sit within a developed residential and holiday community, alongside the broad sand beach and other natural coastal spaces.

Two art buildings offer especially different approaches to the shore. UCCA Dune, opened in October 2018, places OPEN's linked, cave-like galleries beneath the dunes and admits daylight from above. The Neri&Hu-designed Aranya Art Center uses a dark, rock-like exterior and a spiralling interior stair around a circular theatre.
