About Tuoliang Mountain
Tuoliang is a high mountain landscape in Pingshan County, with forested valleys giving way to open upland meadow. It belongs to the Taihang mountain country near the Hebei–Shanxi boundary. The change in vegetation along an ascent is a stronger reason to visit than any promise of a fixed summer temperature.
The protected landscape contains broadleaf woodland, including birch and poplar, with shrubs and flowering plants at different elevations. Official visitor material identifies the Baipu Gorge route and the Yunding meadow as contrasting parts of a mountain outing. Streams and shaded forest occupy the lower approach; the higher ground brings a wider view of the surrounding ridges.
This is a place to pay attention to the transition between habitats. A lower-valley walk and a longer meadow ascent have different demands, and the full mountain should not be treated as one short stroll. Flowers, cloud and visibility depend on season and weather; published scenic images describe possible conditions rather than a daily guarantee.
What to look for
- Compare the shaded stream valley with the more exposed upper meadow.
- Notice the changing woodland and undergrowth as elevation increases.
- Use signed viewpoints to understand the connected Taihang ridges.

Confirm the Pingshan visitor entrance and the permitted route before setting out. Choose a turnaround point that matches daylight, weather and the group’s walking ability.
