About Suifenhe Port City Historic District
A key surviving building is the Russian-style former waiting room on Zhanqian Road, begun in 1899 and now housing the Chinese Eastern Railway Memory Museum. The railway’s full opening in 1903 helped turn Suifenhe into a place of cross-border commerce.
A later chapter is remembered by the public Qianqian sculpture: three Chinese and three Russian figures depict the barter trade that animated the city in the 1990s. Together, the station building and the traders’ monument connect the streetscape with two different periods of exchange.
