About The Peak and Lugard Road
The Peak and Lugard Road offer elevated views over Hong Kong Island, Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. The narrow road forms part of the Peak Circle Walk, where wooded sections alternate with openings towards the city. It gives a different experience from viewing the skyline through a single observation-deck window.
Lugard Road was built in 1913–1914 and follows the hillside near the Peak’s visitor centre area. Historic residences, trees and the changing angle of the harbour add interest beyond the main panorama. The wider circular route joins other paths, while Victoria Peak Garden is a separate uphill extension.
Begin with the skyline but also watch how its arrangement changes as you move: towers overlap differently and successive slopes come into view. In shaded sections, slow down to notice the vegetation and the road’s relationship with the hillside. Visibility depends strongly on cloud and haze, so a clear view cannot be guaranteed by the time of day alone.
