About Baizhao Mountain

The hill has steep slopes, deep ravines and dense woodland, and first appears in written records in the second year of the Northern Zhou Jiande reign, 573. Its literary importance comes from Li Bai, who settled at Anlu and spent ten years seeking office there with Baizhaoshan as the centre of his activity. He married and raised children in the area, read and wrote, met other writers and sought patronage, and wrote more than a hundred poems here, leaving a scatter of associated sites across the hill. The Baizhaoshan Li Bai Culture Tourism Area is rated a national 4A tourist area and was named among Hubei's first school study-tour bases.

Eighteen sites linked to Li Bai in Anlu have been surveyed, among them the terrace where he is said to have read, the Ganzhu Spring, the brush-washing pool and Taohua Yan, the Peach Blossom Rock, which are among the relics that remain on the hill along with Baizhao Temple. Anlu also maintains a Li Bai Memorial Hall, which houses a research centre with full-time historical researchers, and whose display was reworked and reinstalled in a recent project; the hall includes a technology display room, interactive display cases and an interactive theatre. A 3.2-kilometre circular route called the Taibai Poetry Road connects Li Bai Village, Baizhaoshan and Yandian, and Li Bai Village, a 3A-rated eco-tourism area, holds a peach blossom festival.
