About Enshi Girls' City

The district was planned over a site of 1,012 mu, of which about 600 mu was built in a first phase with 730 million yuan of completed investment; by 2021 some 380 companies and individual businesses had taken space in it, and a 2025 count put the number of merchants at 398. Its streets are built in Tujia stilt-house form along stone-paved lanes, and the layout includes a Nverhui square of nearly 20,000 square metres, a wedding square of 15,000 square metres, a leisure and entertainment centre of 3,900 square metres, an 800-metre matchmaking gallery and the Nver Grand Theatre, which seats 1,000. Alongside these are more than 500 Tujia folk-style guest rooms, more than 300 shops, over 30 local snack outlets and around 20 Tujia restaurants.

The Enshi Nverhui that gives the place its theme originated around Shihuiyao in Hongtu Township and Dashanding in Banqiao Town in the surrounding countryside and is described by the prefecture as having more than 400 years of history. It grew out of collective courtship, with market-day matchmaking and antiphonal singing as its main forms, and was added to Hubei's provincial list of representative intangible cultural heritage in June 2009. Nver Cheng serves as the festival's main venue, where the programme is staged as processional and immersive performance through the streets rather than on a single stage. The site has also been designated a first-batch national night-time culture and tourism consumption cluster, a Hubei provincial famous tourism street and one of the province's first intangible-heritage feature street districts.
