About Hasuhai Lake

The lake lies at the meeting of alluvial plains associated with the Daqing foothills, Yellow River and Dahei River. This low-lying setting has produced a relict river lake within a semiarid grassland region. Broad open water and extensive reeds are its defining landscape features.

The reeds and aquatic habitat also give Hasuhai ecological importance. Birds use the wetland to rest during migration and as breeding habitat, adding a seasonal wildlife dimension to the lake scenery.

What to look for

  • The broad freshwater lake against the surrounding plain.
  • Reedbeds and the transition between open water and wetland vegetation.
  • Seasonal bird activity around the lake and reeds.
