About Shiwei

Russian-influenced buildings and the lively central square give the settlement a distinctive border-town appearance, but the most revealing view is along the river itself. From the Chinese bank, the water, opposite settlement and Friendship Bridge make the frontier's geography visible. A short village-and-river walk keeps the visit focused on Shiwei rather than confusing it with the separate ethnic township of Enhe.

Getting to Shiwei

Reach Mengwu Shiwei by road within Ergun, then use the village centre as the starting point for the public riverfront.

  • The Friendship Bridge is a controlled border facility; use the Chinese-side viewing area rather than approaching it as a pedestrian crossing.
