About Wulanhada Volcanoes
The volcanic field includes lava terraces, lava-flow surfaces and other features produced by successive eruptions. Basalt, pumice and volcanic cinders are among its characteristic materials. Local names such as North, Middle and South 'Alchemical Furnace' describe the shapes of some of the numbered cones.
The landscape also records the effects of quarrying and intensive visitor use. Documented conservation work has restored damaged grassland and mining slopes and repaired protective fences around crater areas. The relationship between volcanic rock and the fragile surrounding pasture is central to understanding the site.
