About Wuhai Lake

Its distinctive landscape comes from the meeting of open water and the Ulan Buh desert on the western side. No. 1 Wharf is the principal visitor starting point for the managed lake-and-desert circuit. The lake view is worthwhile from shore, while a crossing to the desert camp adds the reverse perspective when the operator's boat or road connection is available.

What to look for

  • The broad Yellow River reservoir from the No. 1 Wharf waterfront.
  • The meeting of dunes and lake at the authorised western desert visitor area.

Location & getting there

Getting to Wuhai Lake

Start at Wuhai Lake No. 1 Wharf in the Binhe area on Haibowan's western waterfront.

  • Ask the operator whether the desert connection is by boat or road that day. Water levels and ongoing facility work can alter the arrangement.
General visit reminders

Allow room for the terrain and weather when choosing your route. Check the operator’s current trail, shuttle and cableway notices where applicable, and confirm the return connection before setting out. A broad landscape pin does not identify every trailhead or access point.

Combine your visit

  1. No. 1 Wharf waterfront

Begin with the lake and confirm operating connections.
