About Wanghai Tower
The present building is a modern reconstruction in a Song-inspired form, with dark roofs and surrounding galleries. Its historic setting is made more tangible by the surviving Southern Song city-wall fragment and drainage-culvert remains in the scenic area. Compare the reconstructed tower with these archaeological traces, then look along the moat to understand how the city’s defensive works also managed water.
What to look for
- The reconstructed tower provides views across the Fengcheng River setting.
- Song-period wall and culvert remains reveal the older defensive and drainage landscape.
