About Xishan Mingyuewan Old Village
The village's paved streets form a grid, with covered drains beneath the granite slabs and narrow lanes branching between the houses. An old camphor tree marks the entrance, while the quay records the importance of lake traffic to village life.
Many of the surviving homes and ancestral halls date from the Qing dynasty. Their brick, wood and stone carving adds detail to the streetscape, especially around the old halls and gateways.
