About Zhou Enlai Former Residence and Memorial Hall
The former residence consists of two joined courtyards arranged from east to west. Blue brick, grey roof tiles and timber construction give its 32 rooms a domestic scale, anchoring the visit in the family-home setting.
The memorial museum opened in 1992, with main buildings designed by architect Qi Kang on an island surrounded by water and landscaped grounds. The memorial hall and life-and-career galleries broaden the story beyond the home. A reconstruction of Beijing's West Flower Hall, added in 1998, presents the setting of Zhou's later work and daily life.
