About Yangshimu Scenic Area
The area covers 37.5 square kilometres; the Ji'an municipal listing places it in the townships of Zhangzhuang and Taishan, while the ministry route page gives its address as Wenjia village in Yangshimu Town. Its landscape is dominated by granite peak-forest landforms — pinnacles, oddly shaped rocks, cloud seas, waterfalls and stretches of old forest. It falls within the Wugong Mountain national scenic area and shares its designations as national forest park, national geopark and national natural heritage site, and it was rated a national 4A scenic area in late 2017. The name is explained locally by the shapes of a 'sheep' and a 'lion' that appear to chase each other in the shifting mist, and the many pictographic rocks have been linked to the county's 'fu' (good-fortune) culture, giving the area the promotional title of 'China's Fu Mountain'.
Named formations include Shisun (Stone Bamboo Shoot) Peak, the Couple Peaks, Golden Buddha Mountain, 'golden rooster returning to the nest' and 'boy worshipping Guanyin'. The scenic area opened to visitors in May 2014, a year after the Jinding and Jifeng sections of Anfu's Wugong Mountain, and the municipal page renders its name as 杨思慕 while county, court and ministry sources use 羊狮慕.
